Illinois has been without a budget for nearly a month, as disagreements between Republican Governor Bruce Rauner and the Democratic state legislature have stalled the approval of a budget for the 2016 fiscal year.
While certain essential programs like the DMV and child protective services have been given emergency funding to remain operative, many programs that typically receive state funding are starting to worry about the ongoing lack of funds, and what it may mean for their employees and services as the stalemate continues.
Judy Gall, executive director of Alternatives, Inc., a youth development agency in Chicago, joins us to discuss the situation, and what it means for her employees and the 3,000 children they provide services for each year.
