Carnival Cruise Lines changed its policy this morning regarding voyages to Cuba. The company is now allowing people who were born in Cuba to buy tickets for cruises that are scheduled to set sail next month from PortMiami.

Miami Herald tourism reporter Chabeli Herrera says the Cuban government allows natives to return to the island by air, but not by sea.

FPL Breaks Ground on Three Solar Power Plants

Florida Power and Light broke ground on three new solar power plants Thursday. The ceremony was held on the future site of the FPL Manatee Solar Energy Center. The other sites include FPL Citrus Solar Energy Center in DeSoto County and the FPL Babcock Ranch Solar Energy Center in Charlotte County. The three new, community-sized solar plants will be among the largest in the Eastern United States. FPL will install more than one million solar panels within these large-scale solar energy centers.


Canadians come to Florida more than any other international visitors, but fewer are expected to vacation in the U.S. this year. This may affect the Sunshine State.
