State elections officials will re-start an effort to check the voter rolls against lists of possible non-citizens before Election Day in November.

Secretary of State Ken Detzner said Tuesday the state will have a new list that will be better than the last one.

That's because the state is expecting to use the federal Homeland Security SAVE database.

Gas prices are on their way up again.

The Lundberg Survey of fuel prices shows that gas has increased nationwide by 18 cents over the last two weeks-- that's the biggest jump so far this year.

That same trend can be seen in Florida. However Jessica Brady with Triple A says Florida is not as bad off as California or some states in the midwest...

"The average price of gas per gallon in West Palm Beach is $3.76, it's $3.74 in Miami and $3.73 in Fort Lauderdale. Each of those are up 10 cents from last week and 35 cents from month ago."

Citizens property insurance is in the process of making some unprecedented changes.

It is aggressively trying to reduce its exposure to risk. The state-backed insurer wants to cut in half the number of policies it has to about 750-thousand.

Miami Herald Political reporter Toluse Olorunnipa has been following the story. He says what's different this time around is that in the past state lawmakers have handled most of the major changes to Citizens.
