Nick Evans

Nick Evans is a masters student in communications at Florida State University.  Before moving to Tallahassee, Nick lived in and around the San Francisco Bay Area for 15 years.  He listens to far too many podcasts and is a die-hard 49ers football fan.  When Nick’s not at work he likes to cook, play music and read.

Florida has added more than 1.4 million jobs since Governor Rick Scott took office.  But Scott’s 700,000 jobs in seven years campaign promise is looking doubtful.

This week South Carolina decided to sue the maker OxyContin for deceptive marketing.

The Florida Cabinet gave a tongue lashing to the head of Florida’s highway patrol after a North Florida major told his troopers he expected two citations an hour.  State law prohibits ticket quotas.  Attorney General Pam Bondi criticized the directive.

The violent confrontation in Charlottesville and its aftermath have galvanized elected leaders on both sides of the aisle.  Florida Democrats are planning voter registration rallies in response. 

Some school districts are chafing under a provision meant to adjust funding based on cost of living.  They’re applauding an effort to study the system, but from different perspectives.
