There are more than 13 million registered voters in the state of Florida.
Before in-person Early Voting began last week, more than 1 million voters in Florida had already voted by mail for the November general election.
The close races for both governor and U.S. senate are being credited for the high voter turnout in a midterm election. Florida voters will be choosing between gubernatorial candidates Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum, a Democrat, and former U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis, a Republican. Gillum has been endorsed by Sen. Bernie Sanders, while President Trump's support of DeSantis likely led to his victory over Adam Putnam in the primaries.
Meanwhile, outgoing Republican Gov. Rick Scott is challenging incumbent Democratic U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson in a race that could determine whether Republicans maintain control of the chamber.
Early voting has begun in all Southwest Florida counties, and in most cases, continues through Nov. 3, days before Election Day. The map below shows Election Day polling places in dark green, those that are open both for Early Voting and Election Day in light green and those only open for Early Voting in yellow.
