An Act of God

Players with the Laboratory Theater of Florida are currently performing the satirical comedy, “An Act of God,” by acclaimed comedy writer David Javerbaum.  Javerbaum is the former head writer and executive producer of “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.”

Under his tenure the program won 11 Emmy Awards, a Grammy, three Peabody Awards and Television Critics Association Awards for Best News Show and Best Comedy.  The play, which opened on Broadway in 2015, is an adaptation of Javerbaum’s 2011 book, “The Last Testament: A Memoir By God.”  In the book, he blurs the lines between comedian and theologian by taking on the voice of God, just as he does with the Twitter handle @TheTweetOfGod.  Javerbaum will once again put on the voice of God as he joins our discussion about the nature of God, religion and other existential questions tackled in the play in what should prove to be a rather unorthodox discussion.
