The AP Has Called The Presidential Primaries in Florida

Gage Skidmore

The AP has called the presidential primaries in Florida.

It reports businessman Donald Trump won in the Republican race and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton won on the Democratic side.

Trump collected all 99 of the state’s delegates.

Speaking on WLRN in Miami, former U.S. Sen. George LeMieux said Trump has dominated in the southeast portion of the country. He said he thought contender U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas would find more wins in the region.

“The whole southeast portion of the country is Trump red and with Sen. Cruz only eking out wins in Texas and the Midwest,” he said.

Former Florida Gov. and U.S. Senator Bob Graham said this win could energize potential Clinton voters in upcoming contests.

“This should be very motivating for her, but I think what’s maybe more important is what its effect is going to be on people like donors, key people in other states that have yet to vote and whose endorsement would be helpful,” he said.

Clinton received about 64 percent of the Democratic vote in Florida.
