The Boys are Back In Town

The Grapefruit League is back.  Three major league baseball teams have their spring training complexes in Southwest Florida – the Tampa Bay Rays are in Port Charlotte and the Minnesota Twins and Boston Red Sox are in Ft. Myers.

The Red Sox were warming up on Friday. Grey skies and off-and-on rain did not deter hundreds of fans from turning out as well.

Peter Frazier from Shrewsbury, Mass., and his wife were among crowd. He said they’re long-time Red Sox fans.

We came down to enjoy the scenery and the Red Sox of course,” he said. “We have tickets for the games and we’re here to watch them exercise and warm up and maybe get some autographs.”

The Red Sox play two exhibition games on Feb. 21. Then, they take on the Tampa Bay Rays at Jet Blue Park in Ft. Myers on Feb. 23.
