Clinical Partnership between South Florida Children’s Hospitals

selmaemiliano via Flickr

The Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida has entered into a clinical affiliation with Miami Children’s Hospital designed to improve care for severely sick or injured pediatric patients. The partnership provides for greater collaboration of medical care with pediatric specialists at both hospitals. This partnership is aimed to reduce the number of cases in which a pediatric patient will have to be transferred to a facility outside of their own community for proper care. Officials also hope it could reduce the amount of time they’ll spend recovering far away from home. The partnership also involves the greater use of telemedicine. We’ll explore how the clinical affiliation works and what it means for the medical community, pediatric patients and their families.

Guests:

Kathy Bridge-Liles, Chief Administrative officer of Golisano Children’s Hospital

Armando Llechu, Vice President of Clinical Operations, Miami Children’s Hospital
