Development Possible This Week in the Atlantic

WUFT

A strong tropical wave moved off the west coast of Africa over the weekend and is being monitored closely for possible development this week. The National Hurricane Center is giving Invest 93 a medium chance of becoming a tropical cyclone in the next five days, stating development would be gradual to occur as it moves westward at 15 mph. Long range forecast data is inconclusive on what might eventually develop and where it would track, which is nothing unusual at this point. It should be noted, however, that as we approach Mid-August, tropical storm formation occurs almost twice as often on average compared to late July.
