Ex-President Clinton Stumps in Fort Myers for President Obama

Celia D'Almieda

Former President Bill Clinton toured Florida today speaking on behalf of President Barak Obama. He spoke to a crowd of about 1300 at Harborside Event Center in Fort Myers.

Ex-President Bill Clinton told the crowd about President Obama’s plans for the future.

He said they include rapid download speeds for rural areas, a 21st century economy including bringing jobs to the US rather than overseas especially high technology jobs and a public investment in space. And he said Mr. Obama’s plans include an investment in education including his student loan reform plan.

“Starting next year every person who borrows money under the student loan program will have the absolute right to pay that money back as a low, fixed percent of their income for up to 20 years. Now you get it don’t you? It means that nobody will ever have to drop out of college again because of the cost,” he said.

Clinton said loan repayments will be determined by income, not the other way around. He has become one of President Obama's most important supporters. His Florida tour comes after a day of campaigning in another important swing state, Ohio.
