FDLE Attends Multi-State Workgroup for Officer Involved Shooting Cases

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement recently attended a multi-state workgroup hosted by the by the Georgia Bureau of Investigations to offer best practices when it comes to officer involved shooting cases.

The FDLE is one of the leading agencies when it comes to the number of officer involved shooting cases.

Daniel Warren works for the FDLE’s Public Integrity Unit. He attended the workgroup. He said because of Florida’s high population, there are more cases of officer involved shootings.

“You know, we have had our fair share of incidents in Florida in which we’ve had to investigate [as opposed to] a state like Mississippi which has a lower population,” said Warren. “They may have these incidents happen in these states, and we’d like to share these experiences that we’ve had and sharing policies with other agents to make them better.”

The workgroup focused on investigating prominent shooting cases more thoroughly.

Warren said the workgroup also focused on fixing issues in the community to prevent shooting incidents, as well as procedures to best deal with shooting situations.
