FDLE Chief Expands 'See Something, Say Something'

Florida Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam joins Florida Department of Law Enforcement Commissioner Rick Swearingen and others in urging the public to report suspicious activity. The "If You See Something, Say Something" campaign will now include gas-pump stickers reminding motorists to dial 855-FLA-SAFE, (855-352-7233) if they suspect terrorist activity.

Florida Department of Law Enforcement Commissioner Rick Swearingen is expanding the “If you See Something, Say Something,” campaign, but not, he insists, because of any specific terrorist threat

“Historically, following a terrorist attack, we always find that at least one person saw something or heard something, yet didn’t tell anyone. We stand a better chance at preventing or minimizing an attack when people speak up.”

Swearingen and other law enforcement officials appeared at a Southwest Tallahassee convenience store to launch a gas pump sticker campaign urging motorists to dial a toll-free hotline. Vehicles parked in suspicious locations, unattended packages and anyone asking about building design and security are examples of reportable activity.
