Federal Climate Report Shows South Florida at Risk

South Florida is at risk of suffering major climate-related disasters. That's according to a draft of a federal climate report.

A pending federal reporter says South Florida faces habitat destruction, extreme heat and water shortages.

The National Climate Assessment and Development Advisory Committee says the densely-populated coastline and the environment here make the region "uniquely vulnerable to sea level rise."
The report also says the region's flood control system is quickly becoming obsolete.

The committee is accepting input from the public through April 12th at globalchange.gov.
