After months in plateau, the Florida unemployment rate is sliding downward.

Florida’s jobless rate in May dipped to 4.3 percent matching the national rate for the first time since September.  Department of Economic Opportunity director Cissy Proctor says that’s the third month in a row the rate has dropped.

“In March the unemployment rate in Florida was 4.8 percent,” Proctor explains, “dropped [point] 3 percentage points to 4.5 in April, and again point 2 percentage points to 4.3 in May.”

Before that, unemployment for the state was five percent.  It’s been almost ten years since the rate has been this low.
