Gov. Scott: Florida Meningitis Cases are Under Control

Gov. Rick Scott says there are four confirmed fungal meningitis cases in Florida linked to the national outbreak that has killed eight people. Scott told fellow Florida Cabinet members Tuesday morning that the outbreak in Florida appears to be under control adding the four Florida cases are from the same facility.

“The four individuals are three males, age 87, 83 and 81, one female age 65. All are in Marion County and received injections from the Marion Pain Management Center”, said Scott. “As of the end of the day Monday, the Department of Health has contacted all 78 facilities and those facilities will continue to reach out to individual patients who may have received injections linked to the fungal meningitis outbreak.”

Scott says nearly 700 have been contacted of the nearly 1,200 Florida patients who have been linked to facilities that got tainted medicine. They're in Marion, Miami-Dade, Orange and Escambia counties.
