Gov. Scott Says He Wants More Money For Education

Governor Rick Scott says he wants more money for schools in his second term. And that includes public schools and charter schools and the state’s tax credit scholarship program for private schools.

“I think parents ought to be able to choose and students participate in the choosing what school they go to. I think school choice is important", said Scott. "I also think we need to continue increasing funding for K-12 education. That’s why I want to make it - while we have the highest funding for K-12 education in the history of the state, I want to make sure we have the highest per-pupil funding.”Scott expects the state’s economy will improve - which will mean more money to spend on education.

The comments were Scott’s first since winning reelection last week.
