Harvard Professor Tackles U.S. Foreign Policy at New FGCU Speaker Series

Harvard University Professor Stephen Walt, Ph.D., comes to Florida Gulf Coast University Feb. 19 as the inaugural speaker for the Dr. Erich Liebert World Affairs Lecture Series.  His address, titled, “Follies and Fiascos:  Why Does U.S. Foreign Policy Keep Failing?” will address a number of issues including the deteriorated relationship between the U.S. and Russia, why repeated U.S. efforts to mediate peace in the Middle East have failed and understanding failures in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria and Ukraine. 

On his visit, Walt will also speak with students in the Political Science program’s Theories of International Relations class.  His address on U.S. foreign policy failures takes place Feb. 19 at 4:30 p.m. in room 112 of Edwards Hall on the FGCU main campus.  The event is free and open to the public.
