A unique partnership between the Naples Humane Society and Naples’ Restaurant Weekpairs shelter animals with local restaurants, in an effort to bring attention to how the slow summer season in Southwest Florida has impacts from food service to pets.
Every year a collection of more than a dozen eateries in Naples create special prix-fixe menus for one week in June- and those menus will be unveiled at a debut event to benefit the Naples Humane Society, aptly called “First Bite.”
Friday at 1:30 p.m., Guy Clarke and Rafaelle Feliciano from Naples Restaurant Week discuss the city-wide dining event to kick off the summer, and how it hopes to boost the economy of patron-starved restaurants during the traditionally slow season for food service in Southwest Florida.
Also joining the program is Rachel Johnson with theNaples Humane Society about how seasonal shifts and the slow-down of traffic in the summer impacts the area’s homeless pets.
