Hurricane Watches for Irma have been issued for the Florida peninsula. Irma remains a powerful Category 5 storm in the Atlantic with winds to 175 mph. The National Hurricane Center with the 11 am Advisory issued a Hurricane Watch for the Florida peninsula from Jupiter Inlet southward and around the peninsula to Bonita Beach including the Florida Keys, Lake Okeechobee, and Florida Bay. Hurricane watches are typically issued 48 hours before hurricane conditions are expected.
Storm surge watches have also been issued for south Florida.
This includes the coastal areas from Jupiter Inlet southward and to Bonita Beach and the Florida Keys.
