A weak area of low pressure has formed just north of The Bahamas that, per the National Hurricane Center, has a medium chance of developing into a subtropical storm by Thursday or Friday. Confidence is high that Invest 90L, as it's now called, is forecast to remain offshore and have little impact on the state. However, the system could gradually strengthen and acquire tropical characteristics as it treks away from the peninsula Thursday and Friday. At the present time, no direct or significant impacts from this potential storm are expected across the state. Nonetheless, increasing easterly winds will produce swells and create high surf at times for the Atlantic beaches through the end of the week. An elevated risk of rip currents will also exist at area beaches, along with the occasional passing shower associated with some outer bands from the system. By Saturday, conditions should improve for much of the state and seasonably warm, dry weather will prevail.
