Lake Apopka

Apr 30, 2014

After decades of massive pesticide exposure, the scars of a toxic working environment persist in the farmworker community of Lake Apopka. For generations, the area’s residents have suffered through chronic disease, birth defects, and dangerous living conditions.

On the first half of the show is a conversation with author Dale Finley Slongwhite. Her new book is called “Fed Up: The High Costs of Cheap Food.” Also, on the show, we will hear from activist Jeannie Economos, who has been working to help the community for many years.
