Legendary Animator/Director Ron Campbell Comes to Naples

Legendary animator and director Ron Campbell stops by WGCU ahead of some rare personal appearances in Naples in the coming days in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Beatles’ classic animated film, “Yellow Submarine.”  Campbell was one of the animators behind the musical fantasy comedy film.

The Emmy-nominated artist also directed the “Saturday Morning Beatles Cartoon Series” in the 1960s and lent his talents to countless other classic children’s animation programs over his 50 year career including “Sesame Street,” “Yogi Bear,” “Scooby Doo Where are You?,” “The Flintstones,” “The Jetsons,” “The Smurfs,” “The Snorks,” “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” “Whinnie the Pooh,” “Duck Tales” and “Rugrats” just to name a few.  The Yellow Submarine film will be re-released in theatres for a limited engagement this July in celebration of its 50th anniversary and Ron Campbell is currently in Naples.  Campbell will make appearances May 4-6 at HW Gallery in Naples to showcase his original Beatles cartoon paintings created for the show and he’ll be creating new Beatles pop art paintings at the exhibition.
