The employees of Owen-Ames-Kimball construction company are putting together donated items to send to communities hit by Hurricane Michael.
Lacey Fann is the marketing coordinator of the company.
“Our attempt is to send an entire semi-truck up to the panhandle to get them supplies that they need,” Fann said.
Fann said the company collaborated with the local United Way branch in order to get supplies to areas that haven’t gotten much relief since the storm hit last week.
“Before we realized where we were going to be sent, we were accepting anything," Fann said. "But as of now we’re trying to get just emergency supplies.”
Fann said first aid kits, water, rope and cleaning supplies are some of the items that will be of the most benefit to people affected by the storm.
The company started taking donations on Monday, unsure if they would recieve enough donations to fill the semi-truck they planned to drive to the Panhandle. After only three days of accepting items, they have received so many donations that the company is now planning multiple trips to take supplies to affected areas.
"We’re not gonna stop taking stuff until we run out of stuff to take,” Fann said.
Owen-Ames-Kimball will be accepting supplies at the company's Naples office at 5117 Castello Drive, Suite 2, and also in Fort Myers at 11941 Fairway Lakes Drive from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Friday.
