Mack To Florida Delegates: Help Me Beat Nelson

Florida Congressman Connie Mack told his state's Republican delegates Thursday they should work hard to send him to the U.S. Senate this year.

Mack is running against longtime Democratic incumbent Bill Nelson. He said Nelson voted for President Barack Obama's federal health care reform law, while Mack voted against it.

"And we don't want a government that thinks it's bigger and better than us. We don't want a government that thinks it knows better how to run our lives than we do. ", said Mack. "See, this country was founded on the idea of freedom. You know, freedom matters. And it works."

Mack also accused Nelson of voting to raise taxes 150 times.

That's a charge rated "false" by PolitiFact Florida. The fact-checking media group also said Mack leaves out that Nelson has sometimes voted in favor of tax cuts.
