Author, journalist, and environmentalist Marjory Stoneman Douglas is perhaps best known for her 1947 book "Everglades: River of Grass." But at the 13th annual Marjory Stoneman Douglas Festival in Everglades City, her legacy in Florida is still celebrated 70 years after her seminal work was published.
Friday at 1:30 p.m. on Gulf Coast Live, Museum of the Everglades manager Thomas Lockyear explains why the museum in Everglades City hosts the annual festival and what visitors can expect at this year's event.
Also joining the program is Connie Washburn with theFriends of the Everglades, the advocacy group Douglas herself began and the efforts the group continues to pursue to advocate for both the environment and Douglas' legacy.
