A new tropical depression has formed in the central Atlantic, about 1500 miles east of the Lesser Antilles. The tropical depression is it a long way from threatening any land, and may dissipate entirely by the weekend.
Not only is it rare to see development this early in the season that far out, it's even more unlikely that it survives and Depression Four certainly has an uphill battle. It's fighting with some dry air nearby, and high winds aloft may completely rip it apart before it even has a chance to mature.
Tropical Depression Four is unlikely to threaten any land areas over the next five days.
