The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office said it’s investigating the escape of Asian Water Buffalo from a fenced field last week in Punta Gorda.
Officers found the fence had been cut in two places.
In Florida, it is a felony to break or cut a fence containing animals.
Some of the water buffalo crossed US 41 during rush hour before they were herded by deputies in a nearby field.
