Republicans Set To Run For Raulerson, Cruz Seats

Two Republicans have opened campaign accounts to try to succeed Rep. Dan Raulerson, R-Plant City, and House Minority Leader Janet Cruz, D-Tampa, in Hillsborough County House districts.

Plant City Republican Yvonne Fry opened an account last week after Raulerson announced that he would step down from his House District 58 seat on Aug. 15 because of a painful back condition. The date of a special election has not been announced.

Meanwhile last week, Tampa Republican Christopher Licata opened a campaign account to run in 2018 in House District 62, which Cruz will leave because of term limits.

Three Democrats, Michael Alvarez, Carlos Frontela and John Rodriguez, also are seeking the seat.
