What to Know as Nesting Season for Florida Shorebirds Begins

Apr 21, 2017

Shorebird nesting season is happening along Florida's coast, and a dedicated group of volunteers, the Collier and Lee Shorebird Stewards, are taking it upon themselves to help protect the areas where these birds nest.

Friday at 1:30 p.m., Audubon Florida's Collier Stewardship Program Manager Adam DiNuovo talks about the importance of helping shorebirds thrive along the busy beaches of Southwest Florida, and the critical nesting ground our shores provide for a number of shorebirds.

Also joining the show is Brad Cornell, Shorebird Stewardship Program Facilitator for Audubon of the Western Everglades, discussing a program Saturday where potential shorebird stewards will learn basic biology and nesting information about shorebirds like Black Skimmers, Least Terns, and Snowy Plovers.
