Florida lawmakers returned to Tallahassee for a busy three-day special session last week, ending with new agreements on school spending, tourism and business incentives, and medical marijuana but leaving in place many of Gov. Rick Scott's vetoes, and questions about the session's last-minute deals unanswered.

This week’s special legislative session returns to an argument House lawmakers might have thought they put to bed.

Enterprise Florida’s board of directors are trying to accentuate the positives at their meeting in Tallahassee this week.  The agency is tightening its belt as lawmakers sour on funding the public private business recruiter.

House Votes To Abolish Enterprise Florida

Mar 13, 2017

Locked in a battle with Gov. Rick Scott, House Speaker Richard Corcoran on Friday got what he believes are more than symbolic votes to kill the business-recruitment agency Enterprise Florida and revamp tourism-marketer Visit Florida.

But Scott quickly returned fire by saying bipartisan House votes on two bills would harm Florida's economy and slow job creation. Questions also remain about the issues in the Senate, where companion bills have not been filed and some leaders have expressed support for business-recruitment programs and tourism spending.
