Florida Legislative Session

As Florida lawmakers convene the second week of the 2018 law-making session, our weekly series of legislative roundtable conversations features a talk with State Rep. Dane Eagle, R-Cape Coral.  Late last week, the House passed a measure (HB  9) aimed at forcing local governments as well as colleges and universities to comply with federal immigration officials, which would effectively ban so-called “Sanctuary Cities.”  We’ll get Rep. Eagle’s perspective on that effort, and a broad range of other issues including the budget, proposed firearm legislation, environmental restoration and tackling Florida’s opioid crisis.

As Florida’s 2018 legislative session begins this week, WGCU is launching a weekly series of legislative roundtable discussions for each Monday edition of “Gulf Coast Live!” throughout the 60-day session.  These conversations are intended to provide an in depth look at the latest developments in the state capitol and how they impact Southwest Floridians.
