Former presidential candidate Newt Gingrich took the Florida delegation to "Newt U" at their breakfast Thursday morning.

The delegates were already fired up by a star-studded line-up of speakers, including Congressman Connie Mack, who's running against U.S. Senator Bill Nelson.

Gingrich told the delegates they must deliver the state for GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney and for Mack.

Latin America Wednesday

Republicans meeting in Tampa are trying to stay on message this week during their national convention.

But one message you will likely not hear a lot about is their policy towards Latin America.

Miami Herald deputy editorial page editor Juan Vasquez joined Phil Latzman to talk about the GOP platform for the rest of the hemisphere.

It's become a perennial problem for Republicans, but not one that the party yet knows how to solve.

With the Republican national Convention in full swing, WGCU brings you the latest from inside the convention at the Tampa Bay Times Forum. Instead of our regularly scheduled program ‘Gulf Coast Live’, today we’re bringing you special coverage of the convention with WUSF’s “Florida Matters.” Host Carson Cooper speaks with President and CEO of the RNC host committee, Ken Jones and former mayor of Tampa Pam Iorio about the convention’s economic, political and security impacts.

Florida Republican National Convention delegates had to sweat it out in suits waiting for buses hours late to their hotel Tuesday.

Sarasota County GOP chairman Joe Gruters jokes that it’s another sign the party was punishing Florida.

“Well you know we're paying the price. We were sent to purgatory for our past sins and unfortunately it took three hours to get from Innisbrook over to here.", said Gruter.

Many Florida Republicans believe their hotel is punishment for moving up Florida’s presidential primary.
