Firefighters put their lives on the line to every day, but the dangers they face are not the same dangers faced by firefighters in years past. The smoke that comes from modern fires include particulates from very different materials; plastics, petroleum-based products, and chemical-treated woods. 

The lead contamination in Flint, Michigan and the sewage spills in St. Petersburg are only two of many examples of why more consumers are asking questions about the quality of their own drinking water.

That's one of the findings of a new survey being released this week by the Water Quality Association, a national trade organization representing the water treatment industry.

This week the Lee Health kidney transplant program reopened as the Lee Health Transplant Institute at Gulf Coast Medical Center. One of just nine kidney transplant centers in Florida, and the only one between Tampa and Miami, the center has more than 150 patients waiting to receive a donated kidney.
