Scott Seeks To Scuttle Challenge To Citrus Money Veto

Attorneys for Gov. Rick Scott argued Monday the Florida Supreme Court should reject a lawsuit challenging the governor’s veto of $37.4 million that would compensate homeowners for healthy citrus trees cut down by the state.

Tampa strip club owner Joe Redner is challenging the state’s medical marijuana laws in court, the Tampa Bay Times reported.


The Florida League of Women Voters is asking the state Supreme Court to weigh in on a decades-old legal dispute: when a justice’s term ends at the same time as the sitting governor, who appoints a replacement?

The ACLU of Florida has wrapped up a months-long investigation into how the state handled last year’s toxic algal blooms; the result of discharges from Lake Okeechobee into the St. Lucie and Caloosahatchee rivers. The nonprofit civil liberties organization alleges the state failed its residents in how it responded to those discharges.
