A man ranting about President Donald Trump and holding a large American flag walked into the lobby of Trump National Doral Miami resort early Friday morning, laid the flag down on the main counter and began firing rounds.

A Tampa police officer has been shot and wounded while serving an arrest warrant at the home of a man facing charges for making violent threats to his family.

Mass killings on school campuses have, unfortunately, become commonplace in American society. Just a week ago today, a shooter opened fire at a Broward County high school – killing 17 people and injuring another 15.

These incidents have left the country divided on whether we need more guns or less guns, better mental health care or harsher responses from governing bodies to red flags, the death penalty or mercy for the killers…

Wednesday’s shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Broward County has provoked students to question the security measures in their schools and college campuses.

On Thursday, Florida Gulf Coast University President Mike Martin addressed those concerns, assuring the university is prepared for any incidents that may occur.

This morning, schools across the country and here in Southwest Florida were evaluating if they would have been prepared if tragedy were to strike their campus.
