The official start of the 2018 legislative session may be months off, but some measures are already nearing the home stretch.  A veteran’s ID measure and a bill allowing Florida to share voter information with other states are just one stop away from the House floor.

State officials this month levied a $110,000 fine against the Republican Party of Florida. The party turned in a campaign finance report dealing with a South Florida House race 11 days late.

Online Voter Registration Starts In Florida

On Sunday, Florida will join 35 other states in offering online voter registration to its residents.

Florida’s campaign to restore voting rights to felons is gathering national media attention, and national financing. Now activists are trying to focus that energy to get the proposed constitutional amendment on the 2018 ballot. WFSU reports on the grassroots campaign to gather 1 million signatures before the end of the year.

The violent confrontation in Charlottesville and its aftermath have galvanized elected leaders on both sides of the aisle.  Florida Democrats are planning voter registration rallies in response.
