Jameis Winston may have left Florida State University for the ranks of the NFL, but allegations of a rape stemming from his time in Tallahassee are dogging his steps.  Now Winston has filed a countersuit against his accuser.

Almost two and a half years ago, Jameis Winston and Erica Kinsman met at a bar called Potbelly’s.  What did or did not occur next has been the subject of ongoing scrutiny, several investigations, and countless conversations.  Kinsman has filed suit against the University for its handling of the matter, but she’s also filed a civil case against Winston himself.

In response, the newly drafted Tampa Bay Buccaneer is filing a suit of his own—alleging two counts of defamation and an effort to erode his value to NFL teams.  Winston is seeking damages in excess of $75,000; his filing requests a jury trial.  Winston’s legal team has also asked to move the case to the federal courthouse in Tallahassee.
