Angry ex’s face up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine for posting so-called revenge porn of their spouses and lovers. The new law takes effect October 1 st .
Rep. Tom Goodson, R-Titusville, fought three years for the law.
“When people do this, they don’t do it out of love or admiration. They do it out of harassment or the intent to do harm.”
The law applies to anyone who posts nude or semi-nude depictions of an identifiable person without permission. According to legislative testimony, some women have been driven to suicide. Others have been fired or denied jobs.
The law exempts search engines and internet access providers.
