Scott Comments on Florida's First Zika-Related Microcephaly Birth

Florida has had its first confirmed case of a baby born with microcephaly as a result of the Zika virus. Florida Governor Rick Scott talked about the case at a Zika planning conference in West Palm Beach Tuesday.

He said the mother of the newborn contracted the virus in Haiti. And he said the responsibility is on Floridians to keep the Zika virus from spreading locally.

Scott said he was disappointed in Congress and the president for not being able to work out more funding for Zika prevention.Scott said Florida has about 8000 test kits to screen for the virus.

The Department of Health said the mother will be connected to Early Steps, which is a program that offers services to infants and toddlers with developmental delays.
