Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation

Rae Ann Wessel is retiring on Friday, May 15 after a 42-year career as a scientist and conservationist. She has served as Natural Resource Policy Director at the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation since 2006, and managed her own environmental consulting business, Ecosystem Specialists, for 19 years before that.

We talk about her life as an advocate for clean water, and explore the changes she’s witnessed throughout her career working to protect the Caloosahatchee River and its role in the overall Greater Everglades ecosystem.
