Naples Rally Focuses on Achieving Social Reform

About 1,000 people gathered at the steps of the Collier County Courthouse on June 10 for a We Can't Breathe rally organized by The Hippie Circle and SURJ SWFL - Showing Up for Racial Justice.

Organizers said they wanted the rally to focus on the voices of the county's youth. Speakers informed those present about their rights as protesters, and how they can achieve the social reform they seek.

Andrea Perdomo is a reporter for WGCU News. She started her career in public radio as an intern for the Miami-based NPR station, WLRN. Andrea graduated from Florida International University, where she was a contributing writer for the student-run newspaper, The Panther Press, and was also a member of the university's Society of Professional Journalists chapter.
