Following a weekend of nearly nonstop rain, parts of Lee and Collier were drenched, getting just a short reprieve today. Tropical Storm Sally (now a hurricane) left Sanibel under nearly nine inches of water, according to the News Press. Several coastal neighborhoods experienced localized flooding.
The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for Sanibel on Sunday. Although a funnel cloud was spotted off the causeway, it stayed offshore.
Radar estimates from the National Weather Service said inland Lee County received between 2-4 inches, and Sanibel between 7-10 inches. It was estimated that Collier County got about 6 inches.
