On the eve of Election day 2020, more than two million more Floridians have voted early or by mail than did in the last presidential election. WGCU’s Julie Glenn reports:
According to data from the Florida Division of Elections, about 64% of the fourteen million people registered to vote in the state have cast their ballots by mail or at early voting locations.
Three-point six million of those voters were registered as democrats, three-point-four were republican, and one-point nine million are voters with no party affiliation.
In 2016, the last presidential election, voter turnout was 75% overall- including mail-in and in-person on election day. The highest turnout in a presidential election in Florida was eighty percent in 1992when Bill Clinton defeated incumbent George HW Bush.
