Hendry County Declares Local State of Emergency Ahead of Eta

Officials in Hendry County declared a local State of Emergency Sunday night in anticipation of Tropical Storm Eta.

The declaration allows the County access to funding reimbursements and emergency procurement of critical supplies the response to the storm may require.

Eta is expected to bring lots of rain and wind to Southwest Florida. Hendry County Emergency Management urges residents to clear yard debris and make sure loose items are secured. They also recommend removing garbage cans from the road to avoid the potential blocking of drainage pipes.

Hendry residents can find the latest Eta updates on the county's EM website. They can receive emergency alerts by texting “HendryFLA” to 888-777.
