Lee Health says its blood supply is at a dangerously low level and is looking for anyone eligible to give blood to do so as soon as possible.
Lee Health Blood Center Supervisor Jeremy Puckett explains how high the stakes are.
“The blood supply is at a critical level," Puckett said. "We have been at a critical level for quite some time now. And coming out of the holiday, right now we are teetering on the edge of whether or not we’re able to maintain all of the procedures that we have going on, with the current blood supply.”
If you are 16 years old and in good health, consider donating.
The health center has four fixed-site locations—at Cape Coral and Lee Memorial hospitals, Summerlin Crossing shopping center, and at the Bonita Community Health Center, which are open Monday through Friday. Bloodmobiles are out in the community every day.
All donations stay within the local Lee Health system.
“Anything collected at our fixed sites or on those green bloodmobiles will be used to benefit your friends, your neighbors, your family that’s in this community," Puckett went on to say. "It will all stay here within the health system.”
