Today is the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Retired Marine Tim Cheek of Cape Coral was one of the men who carried his casket over nearly four days of events afterwards. The 20-year-old marine also served guard duty at Camp David, Blair House and the White House for President Kennedy. In partnership with the Fort Myers News-Press, we bring you Tim Cheek’s memories of being one of JFK’s pall bearers.
Tim Cheek was one of 250 southwest Floridians who responded to a query by the News-Press about where they were when JFK was shot. Find the entire project here.
