A new musical depicting the historical uprising that happened in the Warsaw Ghetto in 1943 comes to southwest Florida this weekend.  The “Warsaw: A Story in Song” musical is based on the events of the 1943 Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.

In what was the largest single revolt by Jews during World War II, a group of Jews unsuccessfully protested Nazi deportation of Jews into concentration camps. Ida Margolis, Co-Chairperson of the Catholic/Jewish Dialogue of Collier County, said the show will resonate with people.

“It’s an amazing story about the love story between a catholic woman and her Jewish fiancé and how she tries to help him when he tries to get a group together to try to fight against the Nazis, and how she’s able to help some people get out of the ghetto because of her efforts,” said Margolis. “So it’s a story about love and people working together and the human spirit.”

Ida Margolis has been working closely with her daughter, Jamibeth Margolis, who directs the musical. Jamibeth has presented the show throughout New Jersey and New York, including the Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York City.

The show is:

Saturday night 3/8 7:00pm at Temple Beth El, Fort Myers

Sunday 3/9 1:00pm St. Anne Catholic Church, Naples

Sunday 3/9 7:00pm Temple Shalom, Naples
