South Florida Democrats

South Florida delegates at the Democratic National Convention say the vision laid out by former President Clinton last evening draws a stark contrast between the two parties.

In Tampa, the still unpopular George W. Bush sent a video to the delegates. In Charlotte, Bill Clinton was given a prime time slot that he used to defend President Obama.

South Florida delegate Gloria Battle says President Clinton is a reminder of good times with a Democrat in the White House.

“The message that was sent out last week is that ‘if you are rich then this is the party for you.’ I feel having been here this week that this message is more inclusive, not only of the rich and the poor but of the various races, the various types of people”, says Battle.

Delegates here know economy still needs a big shot in the arm. But Broward County delegate Dianne Glasser blames House Republicans for blocking the president's agenda.

“We’ve had other times when different parties were in control. And generally they work out some deal, somewhere along the line where they work out some camaraderie. They don’t deal with everything but they deal with some. They seem to say no to everything.”

Tonight all eyes will be on President Obama as he tries to recapture the energy that propelled him into the White House.
