A measure that would ban texting while driving in Florida is picking up speed in both legislative chambers. On Wednesday, the House Civil Justice subcommittee approved Representative Doug Holder's version.
The Venice Republican said 25% of accidents are caused by texting and driving.
"When you're talking on your cell phone, you're four times more likely to have an accident", said Holder. "When you're texting while driving, you're 23 times more likely to have an accident."
The measure now faces one more committee in the House and one in the Senate. After four years in which the ban failed in Florida, there's now more of an appetite for it.
